CARS WANTED IN KENYA!!!

In a notice published in the local dailies on Sunday, May 15, 2016, KRA, has asked the owners of the cars to present them at the Nairobi Railways Club for verification.
This will be done on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 and the owners have been asked to bring along car importation documents.
The notice indicates that the cars are suspected to have been dumped in the Kenyan market while they had been declared as transit cargo.
“We are conscious that some of these vehicles may have already been sold to innocent unsuspecting customers and we are asking them to co-operate with our officers in the ongoing investigations,” KRA boss John Njiraini said in the notice.

KRA on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 impounded three Ranger Rover vehicles in a container that had been declared as containing household goods at the port of Mombasa.
According to KRA commissioner Julius Musyoki, the vehicles had originated from the United Kingdom and were discovered during a routine scanning of containers.

They were valued at more than KSh 28 milion.
“The interception was as a result of stricter checks and clearance procedures for all import and export cargo passing through the port as KRA seeks to seal all revenue leakage loopholes,” Musyoki said.
In 2015, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the National Treasury and KRA board to expedite vetting of staff as his government aims to maximize tax collection.
Uhuru said that concrete measures should be put in place to ensure that corruption in tax collection coupled with tax evasion are put at bay to enhance revenue mobilization.
“Central to the achievement of this objective is the need to engender a culture that promotes excellence while firmly punishing acts of misconduct amongst staff involved in revenue collection,” he said.
