NANDI NURSES TO STRIKE

Two hundred newly hired nurses have been sent to Nandi county where health workers have been on strike for three weeks.
More than 90 of the country's nurses were fired on Thursday for participating in the strike over delayed promotions and allowances.
Nurses union secretary Amos Ngetich said they were referred back to the national government for redeployment.
County secretary Francis Ominde said those on strike will not receive their April salaries but Ngetich said the protest will not be called off.
It was reported on Wednesday that five adults and two children have died amid the strike.
Those who have died include three adults and two children. They died while being transferred to hospitals in Eldoret town. Kapsabet County Referral Hospital is most affected.
Nandi Senator Stephen Sang and MPs asked Governor Cleophas Lagat to end the strike.
Woman representative Zipporah Kering said: “It is unacceptable that our people have to suffer for long yet little is being done to end the strike."
She said the county and the union must negotiate to resolve all problems.
