RAILA'S CONDITIONS TO STOP DEMONSTRATIONS

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has given President Uhuru Kenyatta some conditions to be met over IEBC before he can call off his violent protests.
In a statement to Kenyans, Raila proposed a new method that should be used in picking commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
He said the political parties should be tasked with selecting IEBC commissioners in order to solve the stalemate facing the electoral body.
According to Raila, the current commission should be reconstituted with parties being allowed to propose officials in accordance with their might and strength in Parliament, i.e. the parties with higher representation in both the National Assembly and Senate would choose more commissioners.
He also wants the civil society to be represented by being permitted to select a few nominees.
“The best way is for political parties to propose representation in the electoral body proportionate to their strength and then civil societies should also propose some people,” said Raila
