Murang’a - A middle aged pregnant woman has died and five other persons sustained serious injuries following a road accident along Murang’a-Kandara road.
The woman was in a Toyota 110 personal car heading to Murang’a town.
The car rammed into a Public Service vehicle (PSV) matatu that was heading in the same direction.
The five people who were in critical condition were rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital where they were hospitalized.
Eye witnesses said both vehicles were at a high speed and that the matatu lost direction first and rolled severally.
The accident left 16 people, who were occupants of both vehicles, with minor injuries and were treated at Maragua hospital and discharged.
Kandara sub-county officer commanding police division, Gregory Mutiso said the woman’s body was taken to Thika Level Five hospital mortuary.
He said the wreckage of the vehicles were towed to Kandara police station as investigations by traffic police department kicked off.
He asked motorists and other road users to be extra careful mostly during this rainy season
