CELEBRITIES TV STATION LAUNCHED

On Friday, TV Cosmopolitan, a showbiz bias
television was launched in Nairobi in a red-
carpet celebrity’s affair that featured the who-
is-who in the showbiz fraternity.
The glitzy ceremony held in Nairobi’s leafy
suburbs of Lavington saw major partners and
advertising and marketing companies join in in
what could turn out to be a phenomenal
showbiz TV revolution.
Headed by former Music Corporate Society of
Kenya (MCSK) CEO, the new station is
expected to start airing local music shows,
films, drama series, dance shows, runway
fashion shows, modelling events and sports
acts, among them the popular EFC basketball
tournament.
“This is a milestone for the entertainment
fraternity in the country and the East African
region as a whole.
It will revolutionise the way we perceive and
treat entertainment in the country, a sector
that has the biggest potential in terms of
economic growth in the country.
It will be an employment creation platform for
many youths and a voice for many who have
been craving for a platform as this,” Maurice
Okoth told MondayBlues shortly after the
launch.
“TV cosmopolitan will be airing entertainment
events live, starting with the EFC tournament,
a charity competition that has attracted
almost all basketball teams in the city since it
was launched about three years ago,” he
added.
Among those who attended included singers
Nameless, Kenzo, Didge, Big Pin, Nonini and
Nanaa, popular TV hosts and showbiz acts like
Shaffie Weru, Big Ted and Big Kev and a host
of advertising companies.
