CHIEF MURDERED IN KIAMBU BY GUNMAN

Shock and grief has gripped a village in
Limuru, Kiambu County after a chief
was killed by unknown assailants on
Tuesday night.
Mr Peter Gitau Kairu, 50, was in charge
of Ngecha Location was shot dead at his
home in Kabuku Village by two gunmen
at around 8 pm.
Police said that the administrator, who is
a father of two, was shot three times and
died shortly after being rushed to the
Tigoni Sub-County Hospital.
According to Mr Karanja Kairu, a
brother of the chief, the deceased
arrived home at around 8 am and was
doing some domestic chores when they
heard a knock on the gate.
Another brother, Mr Gitau Kairu
responded to the knock and found two
men who requested to see the chief and
they were directed to his house.
The brothers said they did not suspect
the two men had an ulterior motive as
the homestead is frequented by many
people seeking assistance from the chief.
“They went to his house and after a few
minutes we heard three gunshots. At
first, we didn’t think that the shooting
had happened inside our compound,” Mr
Karanja said.
