Unknown people killed a 43-year-old woman in
Gatheru village, Kahuro sub-county (Murang’a
County) and seriously injured her two
daughters.
Agnes Wanjiru was slashed to death on
Saturday night when the assailants broke into
her house.
The cause of the attack has not been
established. Wanjiru's killers are said to have
entered the semi-permanent house while they
were away and pounced on the victims after
they returned.
Neighbours who responded to the victims'
distress calls found Wanjiru, a mother of eight,
already dead while her children, aged two and
seven, had deep cuts on their bodies.
Wanjiru's husband is said to have been away
at the time of the incident.
Lifeless body
A neighbour, Gibson Mwangi, said he found
Wanjiru's lifeless body in a pool of blood when
he rushed to the house after the victims
raised the alarm.
He said they took the two severely injured
girls to Murang'a County Hospital while
Wanjiru's body was moved to the hospital's
mortuary to await a post-mortem.
Acting county police commander Johnstone
Limo said they are already investigating the
incident.
"Our officers have already visited the scene
and have gathered some information but we
are asking the public to help the police arrest
the suspects," said Limo.
Limo urged the public to use dialogue to
resolve disputes after it emerged the woman
may have been killed over a dispute.
