ANONYMOUS HACK KENYAN GOVT WEBSITE

The online hacktivist group Anonymous breached a Kenyan government website and made away with one terabyte of data and leaking a portion of it on the dark web.
Conducted unft the banner of OpAfrica that targets countries where child abuse, child labor and corruption are rife, Anonymous obtained both confidential and non-confidential information on national security, international trade agreements, weapon clearances and businesses with foreign countries from the ministry’s server.
According to the group, it was too late for the Kenyan government to expect them because they had already hacked them after sending phishing emails containing malicious links.
A foreign affairs’ staff had sent out information from the ICT department alerting staff that someone was trying to hack staff email IDs.
“We have 1TB of data but at the moment, we have leaked just one portion of it. In few days you will receive full disclosure of the data – We the Anonymous will stand against corruption, child abuse, and child labour! The government of Kenya should have expected,” said Anonymous on one of their websites.

This will be the second time the online hacktivists targeted Kenya after they defaced Kenya oil refinery’s website in March 2015 as well as other state firms.
This will be the first time they are stealing information from government websites instead of just defacing them.
They have promised to release all the information soon as the Kenyan government is yet to confirm if they were indeed hacked.
The group became popular in 2003 after they became well known for well-publicized stunts and distribution of information from governments, companies and even churches.
They have hacked countries like the United States, Israel, Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania among others as well as targeted private companies such as Sony, Visa and Paypal.
