KENYA FAILS TO QUALIFY FOR T/20 WORLD CUP

Sarah Bhakita struck 44 runs from 24 balls to lead Kenya to a 7-wicket victory over Tanzania as the 2018 women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers came to an end in Harare.
The win, however, did little to help Kenya’s quest for qualification as they had already lost three matches prior to the match. Hosts Zimbabwe, who won all their matches qualified for the global qualifiers set for next year.
Bhakita, who was promoted to the opening slot from number four hit five fours and one six as Kenya ladies side scored 71 for 2 in 12.1 overs after restricting Tanzania for 70 for 120 in 19.3 overs.
Bhakita put on an opening stand of 55 runs with Margaret Banja in 8.4 to help Kenya control the chase from the onset.
Kenya had little problem in chasing the moderate total as Bhakita struck Kenya’s highest score in the event and called the shots in the company of Banja, scored 15 from 29 balls before being bolwed by Zinaida Finkili.
