A driver was on Friday night killed in a road accident at Mweiga township along the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway.
Two other people who suffered deep head cuts in the crash involving a 14-seater matatu belonging to Nyena Sacco and a Nyeri County Government heavy duty lorry.
The lorry is said to have been reversing into the highway at a bend when the matatu rammed into the hardly visible trailer at around 7:35pm.
Poor visibility was attributed to the rain falling in the area at the time. The lorry, which lacked proper reflector plates and indicator lights did not help the situation.
Reports suggest that the county government loader was delivering a crane at a quarry in the area prior to the fatal crash.
The matatu driver was pronounced dead on arrival at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Mweiga.
The two passengers who were aboard the matatu were treated and discharged.
