A primary school teacher in
Murang’a County has been sentenced to 90
years in prison for sexually assaulting 9 male
pupils.

John Gichia Mugi allegedly committed the
crime between January and May 2014, only
two terms after joining the school.
He was serving as the boys’ boarding master.
Mugi’s indecent acts were exposed after the
boys requested to go home following a parents’
meeting at the school.
However, the school head tried to cover up the
case and was as a result struck off the
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) roll, Daily
Nation reports.
The boys who are aged between 13 and 16
told court that the teacher touched their
private parts and kissed them as they went to
bed after evening studies.
The 23-year-old teacher was sentenced to 10
nine years for each assault, Standard reports,
and will thus be released when he is 113-years-
old.
